Experience a 10 Shevat
Gathering with the Lubavitcher Rebbe
About this Webcast:
This webcast features footage from a 1972 satellite broadcast of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's annual gathering on the occasion of the yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of his father-in-law, the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn Schneersohn.
The 10th day of the month of Shevat (this year, Friday February 3) is the anniversary of passing (yahrtzeit) of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (1880-1950), of righteous memory.
It is also the day when, in 1951, the seventh Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902-1994), of righteous memory, formally accepted the leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch.
Send a prayer request to the Ohel, the resting place of the Rebbe:

WEBCAST PROGRAM
1:43 - The Rebbe Enters the Farbrengen
The Rebbe takes his place at the 21st annual "Yud Shevat" gathering at Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn, NY.
4:21 - Talk 1: A Precious Wor
If you look at the world and see a deep, dark forest, you should know that King Solomon's Song of Songs tells us that G-d actually made the world to be a beautiful garden. With a little bit of work, we can make this a reality. This is the mission with which the Previous Rebbe charged us in his final address.
24:33 - Musical Interlude: Yosisu
26:27 - Talk 3: Hard Work Paysff
Just like a garden or an orchard, the world needs constant tending in order to keep producing. We too must never be satisfied with prior accomplishments but continue our work to make this world a place of beauty. There are those who seek instant gratification and they will tell the "gardeners" not to waste their time with such a long-term project. But we must learn from the Previous Rebbe and spare no effort to invest in the world's future.
52:22 - Talk 9: Our Brethren Behind the Iron Curin
At the splitting of the Red Sea, the Midrash tells us that the children who were conceived and raised in Egypt were the first to recognize the splendor of G-dliness. Similarly the children who are being raised behind the Iron Curtain have a strong affinity for spirituality. Now that these families are coming out of Russia, we should do all that we can to help them acclimate, including initiating a "buddy system" between local and immigrant families.
48:03 - Musical Interlude: Hu Elokei
nu
The Rebbe begins to sing this Russian-Jewish protest song whose words are: "No, no, there is no one besides our one G-d."
1:02:58 - Musical Interde
Niggun Hachana, Iva Dyenem Nye Patunem, Bucharian Melody, Alter Rebbe's Niggun, Nye Zhuritzy, Nyet Nyet.
